Twenty-nine-year-old Aaron Harvath shot 23-year-old Dirk Wolf last November, and police say when he was caught he gave them unbelievable reasons why, stories and the testimony of a couple of mental health experts that led to a ruling of not guilty by reason of mental defect by the judge.

STEVENS POINT- Today in the courtroom the judge heard from two of the three psychiatrists who have evaluated Harvath over the past year.
And after talking with Harvath and hearing ramblings about the Olympic bombings and ties to the Russian mafia as well as a pre-existing condition of mental problems both sides agreed Harvath should be sentenced to a mental health facility.
The words of the psychiatrist testimony weighed heavily as they spoke of how Harvath was already on medications after years of drug abuse left him mentally unstable. And how on the day of the murder Harvath may not have been taking those meds and led him to think Wolf was going to try and have Harvath killed by Russian mobsters.
"We'd have a conversation like we are now and his affect would turn," said Harvath's defense attorney Gary Kryshak. "He would laugh or bring up the Olympic bombings or other delusions and you would have to take him off point."
District Attorney Tom Eagon say's he spoke with the victim’s family and says they agree with taking him off the street and getting him help is the best way. Harvath will be sent to a special state health and family services center where he will likely be monitored and treated for the rest of his life.
