Growing up, Mosinee's Kole Heckendorf dreamed of one day playing for the Green Bay Packers. He's now living that dream.
"I'm kind of in the moment right now, I don't think it's sunk in yet that I'm a Green Bay Packer," says Heckendorf. " I just gotta do one day at a time and just have fun while I'm here."
Kole joined the rest of the new members of the green and gold today at the Packer's rookie orientation, but Kole still remembers where he came from.
"Small high school, then a small college and now at the top of the world," says Heckendorf.
It was hard work and determination that got Kole to this point, and it's quite obvious just talking to him that he knows if he has any chance of making this team, it'll take just that again, hard work and determination.
"I'm saying 'yeah' I'm the underdog," says the rookie free agent. "A lot of people counted me out not even to get here, but I'm here and hopefully (I'll) stick around as long as I can."
"They may not be the first guy in line, they may not be the second or third guy, but every single one of those guys will be given an opportunity," said head coach Mike McCarthy when asked about the chances of the rookie free agents making the final roster.
That's all Kole can ask for, an opportunity.
