When a Drum and Bugle corps rolls into town for a competition, they usually don't have much time to waste.
They need to practice, and they can't let the weather stop them. So when temperatures reach the 90's, frequent breaks are necessary.
Water jugs litter the field, and sweaty band members wait for their hourly break.
Directors also schedule the tougher, full practices at night, so temperatures are a little cooler.
But things get worse when the band performs, because their full uniforms make it seem about 10 degrees warmer.
