The kids have finished stapling, but it looks like we're going to have to wait another week to find out if they've broken any records.
On Friday, 60 seventh and eighth graders from St. Peter Middle School in Stevens Point started stapling together a paper chain.
If the chain has more than 584,000 links in it, they'll have made their way into the Guiness Book of Records.
"We'll keep our fingers crossed," said Math and History Teacher Leeann Stremaowski. "They gave it a valiant effort, the good college try. These kids really put in a lot of time."
Staying up through the night, the students were stapling until ten o'clock this morning.
After they measure the more than 50 miles of chain, their next task will be finding out what to do with all that paper.
