University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is hoping to make a name for itself in the video game industry and help some of their students find jobs.
This weekend the University hosted their 2nd Annual Play Expo to give students and recent graduates an opportunity to mingle with professionals.
" I think it is very important that students take the time to speak with people who are in the industry, not just for getting a job, but for getting feedback on their portfolios on the work they're doing," says Veronica Gonzalez of Electronic Arts.
Some of the companies at the Expo say despite the recession, the video game industry is doing quite well because it's considered a relatively inexpensive form of entertainment.
The University is in the process of transforming its current Multi-Media Program into an official Media Arts and Game Development Program.
They will begin accepting students for that renamed program beginning in the fall of 2010.
