When you think of October you usually think of Halloween, but this year some area kids won't be trick or treating until November. As they've done the past few years, the city of Wausau along with Weston, Rothschild and Schofield, have designated trick or treating hours on Saturday, November 1st.
Police chief Bill Brandimore says having specified hours is a safety issue, but it hasn't always been a popular decision.
“Some of the early criticism was blunted by people that had already made plans and then we changed Halloween.”
While many of those complaining say it's simply inconvenient, some cite religious reasons.
“I think it should just stay the way it is. And on the 1st is All Saint's Day, and that's unfair to take that away from them.”
Trick or treating times on Saturday are from 4 to 7 in Wausau, Schofield, Rothschild and Weston.
