Sixty-year-old David Wagner hadn't been seen since Wednesday. He failed to come back from a business and fishing trip near Stoddard.
His keys, wallet and clothes were found in his motel room, with the bed still made.
Air and ground crews conducted an extensive search of the Mississippi River, and a helicopter spotted Wagner's body in the river this afternoon.
His family says he was an avid fisherman, so they're not surprised.
Deputies think Wagner fell into the river as he was walking up to it, but officials won't determine a cause of death until an autopsy is done.
