City health officials there say a dead crow found on the city's east side has tested positive for the virus. It's the first confirmed case in Dane County this year.
So far in 2003, the virus has infected nine birds statewide, two horses in Dunn and Shawano counties and mosquitos trapped in Milwaukee County.
There's been no human cases reported yet in the state.
Last year 52 Wisconsinites contracted the mosquito-borne virus. Three died.
