Sheriff Warns Citizens About Hitchhikers

About 15,000 people are on their way to the Ottawa National Forest near Watersmeet, MI.

From July 1 through the 7 the Rainbow Family is holding their annual Peace rally, and the most direct route is through Northcentral Wisconsin.

Most of the Rainbows will be driving to the rally, but a few have already started to hitch hike. And Lincoln County Sheriff Tom Koth wants homeowners along the way to be alert.

Most hitchhikers will be traveling along Highways 17 and 8, and homeowners along those roads should make sure everything on their property is put away and locked up.

Rainbows say no one needs to be worried, but Sheriff Koth says homeowners should be aware.
