Keeping their past alive while preparing for a brighter future, that's the goal of a Hmong youth conference this weekend in Wausau.
High school and college-aged Hmongs from across Wisconsin were at the Plaza Hotel in Wausau, listening to keynote speakers, participating in activities and discussing where their culture has been and where it's headed.
"We focus more on the Hmong culture, the Hmong history and for education," said Blong Yang, Wausau Youth Hmong Association, "and we focus more on the student who can go for medical school."
Yang says one of the goals this weekend is to prepare the Hmong youth for futures in business, politics and medicine.
