D.O.T officials say it's not the number of crashes at the intersection that stood out, but rather the type.
They say that most could be prevented be eliminating the cross traffic. Local residents we spoke to seemed to be happy that an overpass is on its way. They say getting through that intersection has not been fun.
Construction on the estimated $5 million project is set to get underway sometime next year. It should be completed by 2005. Officials say construction won't cause much of a problem for traffic on Highway 29.
There will however be a detour for Highway Y traffic.
