Construction is now underway on an elaborate 40' tall ice castle near the Mall of America.
The ice castle is made of icicles organically grown from 4 million gallons of water and then fused together. The castle will join 50 large ice towers together to create a series of shimmering archways, tunnels, walls and caverns.
The ice castle opens December 31 and is expected to stay open until Feb. 20, weather permitting of course.
The best time to visit might be at night when thousands of multi-colored light illuminate the ice from within.
Cost is $5 for kids, $10 for adults, and $25 for a family pack.
The Mall of America is in Bloomington, Minn.
