Two more men have now been charged following a Jan. 17 prostitution sting targeting responders of ads on backpage.com.

Peter Gomez, 37, and Jeffrey Burgoyne, 58, both pleaded not guilty Tuesday to misdemeanor charges of prostitution.

Burgoyne is free on a $300 signature bond.

Gomez is free on a $500 signature bond.

Trial dates have been set May 8 for both men.

A 27-year-old Wausau man arrested Jan. 17 following prostitution sting had couple hundred dollars worth of meth in his vehicle at the time, according to court documents.

Brandon Crum was formally charged Monday with patronizing prostitutes, along with maintaining a drug trafficking place, possession of methamphetamine and two counts of delivery of amphetamine.

At the time of his arrest Crum told investigators he had an "eight ball" of meth in the vehicle's ashtray. According to court documents, Crum told investigators it was worth $275.

Detectives say the meth weighed 4.42 and Crum was expected to sell it later that night.

Brandon Crum will return to court on Feb. 12 to learn if his case will head to trial.

He's behind bars on a $5,000 bond, but if he is able to put up the first $1,000 in cash he could be released.

According to court documents, Crum responded to an ad on backpage.com. The ad was posted by an undercover officer.

Three other men were also arrested as result of the sting. Two have yet to be charged.

A University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point faculty member is free on a $300 signature bond after being charged in a Jan. 17 prostitution sting.

Joshua Shields, 33, is charged with misdemeanor prostitution - sexual gratification. A one day trial is scheduled for May 8.

Another man police say was arrested Jan. 17 is now in custody after warrant had been issued for his arrest.

Brandon Crum, 27, is scheduled to be charged Monday with patronizing prostitutes, along with maintaining a drug trafficking place, possession of methamphetamine and two counts of delivery of amphetamine.

Crum was Saturday night around 11:30 p.m. in Marathon County.

Marathon County Jail confirms Jeffrey Burgoyne and Peter Gomez were also booked into the jail Jan. 17 on suspicion of patronizing prostitutes. They have not yet been charged.

Online court records show an arrest warrant has been issued for a man Wausau Police say was arrested Jan. 17 during a prostitution sting.

Court records show in addition to a charge of patronizing prostitutes, Brandon Crum, 27, is expected to be charged with maintaining a drug trafficking place, possession of methamphetamine and two counts of delivery of amphetamine.

The Wausau Police Department says they are recommending four people be charged with patronizing prostitutes after sting last Friday in Wausau.

Marathon County Jail confirms Jeffrey Burgoyne, Joshua Shields, Brandon Crum, and Peter Gomez were all booked into the jail Jan. 17 on suspicion of patronizing prostitutes.

Police the investigation focused on individuals who respond to advertisements for escort services placed on websites such as “Backpage.com.”

The Wausau Police Department said in a press release they have seen an increase in prostitution, both locally and statewide.
