Authorities in Lincoln County are investigating a blaze that destroyed a home in the Town of Pine River Monday morning.
Several crews were called to the scene on Center Road just before 1:00 a.m.
When crews arrived, they found the home engulfed in flames. Firefighters worked in below zero temperatures to control the blaze. They were on the scene until 9:30 a.m.
The homeowner, Wendelin Mathis, told a Deputy he smelled and saw smoke in the kitchen and was able to get his family just as flames started to spread through the house. The Red Cross is assisting the family.
The cause of the fire is unknown but is not considered suspicious.
