Several communities in Western Marathon County hope a new pipe line will bring water and businesses to the area.

The Edgar Village Administrator, Barkley Anderson says they're joining Abbotsford and Colby in the 25 million dollar project.

The pipe line would draw water from Wausau and pump it to the Villages.

Anderson says they currently have enough water in Edgar, but increasing their capacity could help the village's economy.

"It would help us fill our industrial parks and advertise for businesses, if they knew there was plenty if water in Edgar."

Anderson says Edgar residents only use about 80 thousand gallons of water a day ... but the village has the capacity to make between 250 and 3 hundred thousand gallons of water a day.

"Edgar's interest in this right now we're looking to the future to be apart of something if we needed water down the line. We might even be able to sell it. "

Anderson says the communities are hoping to get federal funding to build the pipe line.

He says they'll find out if they'll get any grants after the new president is sworn in.
