225 thousand dollars was earmarked in the federal budget by Representative Dave Obey and Senator Herb Kohl to go to battling beaver destruction.
The Americans for Prosperity leaders say the money could be better used for health care and the war on terror.
Obey was not available to comment on the criticism.
But his Press Secretary said the American for Prosperity's event today is a publicity stunt.
It was attended by Republicans including U.S. congressional candidate Nick Reid and his supporters.
However, the Group's President says they are addressing GOP pork as well.
The USDA will disperse the beaver destruction money to help more than twenty counties in the state.
Supporters say it's not pork...
It should prevent the rodent from destroying cedar trees, trout habitats and from ruining roads.
Wisconsin was the American for Prosperity Foundation's 30Th state.
The group is scheduled to hit five more before the end of their tour.
