Local Government Officials Want Doyle To Veto Levy Limits

Gov. Doyle has only had the budget on his desk for a day, but he is already getting advice on how to use his veto powers.

Various local government officials signed an oversized letter to the governor Wednesday at Wausau City Hall.

The letter asked the governor to veto levy limits that would freeze property taxes. The officials say the freeze would remove local control and destroy their budgets.

Gov. Doyle has said in the past that he does not support the property tax freeze and that he would consider vetoing it.
