A Wausau family can't thank Make a Wish Foundation and Wausau Homes enough.
Both are responsible for sending joy to Haylee Koskey, who turns 4 next month.
Friday her dream came true.
Haylee was born with Down Syndrome, but 10 months ago things got much more difficult.
"Back in February we were told that she had leukemia and that was hard, and then at the hospital she always acted like she wanted to cook because they had play toys and that," said Keith Koskey, her father.
They decided to reach out to Make a Wish Foundation. The family wished for a playhouse for their daughter.
"Most of our wishes are trips but we do wishes as small as a computer or something fun and very large wishes, as you can see behind us, happen," said Trent Zillman, a wish granter.
They decided to seek out local help, and Wausau Homes jumped on board to build a house perfect for the little girl.
"It's been a joy to work and do this for them. Everybody has enjoyed the whole project," said Kristy Moore, a sales engineer for the company.
The 18 by 10 ft. yellow playhouse has a front porch and swing, upstairs loft and is filled with fun-sized kitchen appliances and toys. It's painted purple inside, with whimsical adornments.
It even has heated floors so Haylee and her sister Emily can enjoy the playhouse all year round. Haylee found the chef's hat and apron right away, tried it on for size, and showed her new outfit off to the 50 people watching nearby.
"We wanna thank Make a Wish Foundation and Wausau Homes and everybody, not to forget all the people that helped, every person that lifted a hand to help deserves a lot of thanks," said Haylee's mother Vicki Koskey.
Vicki says little Haylee has about a year and a half left of treatment, but she's doing well. Like any other child suffering from a life-threatening illness, she has her ups and downs.
But when things get really tough, hopefully this playhouse fit for a princess will brighten her day.
The playhouse will be set in the Koskey's backyard this Monday.
