State Senator Brian Burke is criminally charged in the caucus campaign investigation.

Dane County District Attorney Brian Blanchard said Wednesday Burke is accused of withholding and altering evidence in an attempt to hide his use of state resources for campaign activities.

Blanchard and Milwaukee County District Attorney Mike McCann have been investigating whether legislative caucus staffers campaigned on state time -- which is illegal.

Two staffers who worked for Burke are also charged – Tanya Bjork and Raghu Devaguptapu.

Bjork is accused of two misdemeanor counts -- manipulating data and soliciting campaign contributions on state property. Devaguptapu is charged with five civil counts. He's accused of setting up meetings with lobbyists so he and Burke could ask for campaign contributions at the same time they discussed legislation.

Bjork still works in Burke's office, but Devaguptapu is no longer employed there.
