UNDATED (AP) -- The Green Bay Packers have a losing record this season but the team is No. 1 when it comes to a powerful marketing brand.
The Packers ranked first among 122 team brands in the National Football League, National Basketball Association, National Hockey League and Major League Baseball in home-market strength.
The franchise was named the strongest team brand in its local market in the 2008 Turnkey Team Brand Index, a consumer survey of 12,000 sports fans.
The Packers ranked fifth last year.
Turnkey Sports & Entertainment President Len Perna says the Packers moved up because of the emotional year with Brett Favre.
He announced his retirement but changed his mind and was traded to the New York Jets.
The Boston Red Sox ranked second followed by the Pittsburgh Steelers, who topped last year's list.

That's because TRUE Packer fans are not bandwagon fans. We are loyal. I was born in Boston & I always say... I'm a Patriots fan by birth, but a Packers fan BY CHOICE!

That is very interesting. One would think being number #1 the Packer Pro shop would not be doing any advertising let alone running various sales throughout the week.
