While many of the families are soaking up the last night they have to spend with their soldiers. The commander says everything is in order for them to leave from Rhinelander High School tomorrow morning.
While many of the details of their mission can't be released because of security reasons, National Guard officials say it will be in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, where they will help with road construction and deactivating roadside bombs.
"These soldiers are going to Afghanistan to serve as part of a force overseas. We are engineers and we will do engineer missions," said Commander Brian Bartn of the 951st Sapper Company
The commander says 45 men leaving tomorrow have been deployed for previous missions, for the rest, it will be their first time. Many are from the Rhinelander and Tomahawk areas.
