Hundreds of Wisconsin grown Christmas trees are headed for military bases throughout the country and overseas.
The owners of several local tree farms and volunteers loaded about 200 Tannenbaums on to a FedEx truck Wednesday morning.
They're being shipped for free to 40-military bases as part of the "Trees for Troops" program.
It was founded by the National Christmas Tree Growers Association.
"I was in the service before, and I respect what the men and women are doing in the military. They need all the gratitude we can give them,"
says Ron Herman of R and D Christmas Trees.
"Trees for Troops" started in 2005.
Back then they collected 4000 trees, nationwide.
This year, they estimate 20,000 will be donated.
