Senator Herb Kohl and congressman Dave Obey announced Thursday morning that CWA will receive the money.
Airport manager James Hansford says the airport's main runway is over 30 years old and is in need of serious repair.
The construction will begin this year on the main runway and taxiway. The old concrete will be recycled and used as a base under the new concrete.
Runways have deteriorated over the years due to cold weather. The construction will last for two years.
Hansford says the construction will not affect travelers because CWA has a secondary runway that's large enough to handle all aircraft.
