Stevens Point Police are searching for a woman after a man was shot Tuesday afternoon.
The deputy chief tells NewsChannel 7 the victim suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was taken by helicopter to the hospital.
The suspect is a woman with dark hair who was wearing a blue sweater.
Authorities say she's considered armed and dangerous.
They've cordoned off a one mile perimeter on the north side of Stevens Point.
The incident happened near the Moose Family Center on Second Street.
It also happened close enough to Stevens Point Area Senior High, SPASH, that authorities ordered a lockdown at the school.
The principal says police called him and told him to keep students in the building until the all clear was given.
A school district spokesman says the officials authorized them to release the children at about 4:15.
