Valeri Gungor was sleeping Saturday morning when the floods forced patio doors on her lower level to give way. In just a matter of seconds, rushing water invaded her bedroom. She escaped through a small window.

After soaking in four feet of water, many of her books and other belongings are now destroyed.

Also living along the Little Eau Pleine River is Cindy Alf. On Sunday, the rushing waters went head to head with her home. An army of sandbaggers went to work.

On Monday, the river backed down. Cindy says she is not only relieved to see her lawn again, but she is grateful generous volunteers helped save her home.
