One volunteer going to help tornado victims is a Portage County Red Cross worker. Brenda Pientka has already assisted in a number of disasters including working at Ground Zero after September 11.
Pientka will be helping those who survived the tornadoes get in touch with family outside the area. She'll be assigned to a Red Cross center in Virginia for several weeks.
The Red Cross is asking people not to send any supplies because they cannot be sent to the disaster areas but they will gladly accept financial contributions for the effort. The agency's website is www.redcross.org
