Major political parties are trying to stress the importance of voting this November to minority communities in Northcentral Wisconsin.

Members of the Republican and Democratic parties gathered today to speak to Hmong clan leaders at the "Understanding Voting in America" conference in Stevens Point.

"Voting is very important because I believe that that no matter where you live, you belong to that country, and you have the right to get involved for voting because you have the right to raise your voice," said Jim Vang, workshop coordinator.

The Republican and Democratic party members informed the Hmong community on how to vote, the differences between the two political parties, and the importance of voting.
