MARINETTE, Wis. (AP) -- The man accused of shooting three teens to death near the Wisconsin-Michigan border has two new attorneys.

Now representing 38-year-old Scott J. Johnson of Kingsford, Michigan, are attorneys Carrie LaPlant and Shannon Viel of the state public defender's office in Green Bay.

They confirmed their appointment at a hearing in Marinette County Circuit Court.

The previous lawyer for Johnson asked to withdraw over what he said were a growing number of rifts with his client.

Johnson is accused of ambushing a group of young people at a swimming hole on the Menominee River in July. He has pleaded not guilty and not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.

His trial date remains set for March 16th.
