In an effort to reduce operating costs NewPage says they'll eliminate 300 positions nationwide. The company is also making $20 million in non-personnel reductions.

The Miamisburg, Ohio-based papermaker operates eight mills, including three in Wisconsin, with locations in Biron, Stevens Point and Wisconsin Rapids.

Cliff Bowers, a spokesperson for the company would not say which locations will be affected.

In June 2011, the NewPage Kimberly plant was sold to a Montreal based metals recovery and recycling company.

NewPage makes coated paper used in magazine and catalogs.
