3 Charged with Prostitution in Wood County
Three women are charged with prostitution after an undercover investigation in Wood County have pleaded not guilty.
According to a news release from the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department, the investigation was in response to “escort activity” being offered on the internet and a previous investigation in the City of Wisconsin Rapids which resulted in pandering and prostitution charges.
Police say Markesha Green, 25, of Milwaukee; Maria Smith, 47, of Green Bay; and Jennifer Barger, 37, of Wausau, were arrested on November 30 and December 1.
All three are free on bond and will return to court next month for pre-trial conferences.
