By late summer, families in Wausau will have two more dining options.
Those who frequently drive by the corner of Stewart Avenue and S. 17 Avenue have most likely noticed the progress underway at the new Panera Bread location. But you might be wondering why the building is so much larger than other Panera locations?
Margaret Ghidorzi, the Business Development Manager at Ghidorzi Companies says it won't just be Panera moving in. She says Toppers Pizza is also expected to open at the location. The building also leaves room for one more tenant, but so far they're not sure just what.
The Wausau Panera location will include a drive thru and an outdoor patio.
During an interview with NewsChannel 7 last August, Ann Werth, the Director of Community Development said results of a survey showed Wausau residents said Panera was one of the top five restaurants they'd hoped the city would get.
As far as Toppers goes, those who have dined there are eager for a location closer to home. The restaurants are typically located in college towns- the nearest to Wausau is located in Stevens Point. The chain is rapidly growing and plans to have 100 locations by the end of this year.
Toppers is headquartered in Whitewater.
