Hundreds of people in central Wisconsin went to church on Easter Sunday to hear about the Life and Death of Jesus Christ.

"My hope is that people wouldn't just connect with the day and the emotion of any given holiday," said Pastor Roger Smith, worship leader for the Immanuel Baptist Church in Rib Mountain, "but would maybe have an experience spiritually that they come to know Christ."

This year IBC not only celebrated with a special Easter service, but also by putting on a play for the weekend.

The Head Pastor says he does not know if it was the play or recent events in the Middle East, but the church broke its record for attendance. 3,500 people showed up to watch the production called the “Passion Play” and 600 came for the two Sunday services.

"The pastors are real happy at Immanuel this year," Pastor Gary Butler said. "We were high-fiving down the hallway."
