The freezing rain has slowed down many motorists in central Wisconsin and put a stop to a lot of events in the area. Business for local body shops, however, seems to be picking up.
"Business in the spring usually is pretty slow, 'cuz the deer stop running. There's no ice usually," Jason Grezenski, the assistant manager at Rosemurgy's Body Shop on Wausau's Forest Street said. "Once this ice does come around, we will see a lot of cars come in, in a short period of time. It'll keep us busy for a couple of months."
When there are icy conditions out, Grezenski says it's not unusual to see about 15 cars come in to the shop in one day.
Other body shops in the area say they haven't noticed a huge increase so far, but local technicians say they usually see more business two or three days after an ice storm, because most people will take that time to contact their insurance companies before coming in for an estimate.
