Authorities are calling a string of threats against a local middle school nothing but rumors. Gossip about a bombing and even a "hit list" had many P.J. Jacobs Junior High students and their parents concerned.

The principal of the Stevens Point school says it all started when one student created a document and it got passed on to others. Rumors included the attacks would happen on June 6th, with the date of 6-6-6.

However, school officials and authorities say they found no evidence the attacks would actually be carried out.

"We know who wrote the document but there was no disciplinary action in regards to a bomb threat or hit list because we don't have one," said Jeb Steckbauer, principal at P.J. Jacobs.

In a letter to parents, Steckbauer said they take any situation like this very seriously and the safety of the students is the school's main priority.

The Stevens Point Police Chief, who assisted in the investigation, says he's "very confident this is nothing." Still, they plan to have officers on hand at the school on Tuesday, June 6th, just to give parents and students some peace of mind.
