Hundreds of people spent their Sunday helping someone who has spent his career helping others.

John Hunsicker was a physician's assistant who was in a car accident the day after Thanksgiving. The crash broke his neck in three places and damaged his spinal cord. His co-workers and supervisor organized a live auction and raffle Sunday to help him pay his medical expenses.

"It's amazing," Hunsicker said. "I never worked somewhere before where your employer actually cared enough about you to do something like this."

Hunsicker says he hopes to return to work by the summer, although he will have to remain in a wheelchair. He says he's overwhelmed at the businesses that donated $10,000 worth of merchandise for his benefit.

Hunsicker's family says more than 500 people from all over Wisconsin came to Weston to attend the event.
