Chad Jorgensen, 36, faces up to 60 years in prison after his conviction on solicitation of homicide to kill his ex-wife Kelly.

The Antigo man was found guilty by a jury in Langlade County court Tuesday.

An informant was vital to his conviction.

"The taped statements of the defendant were the key information," said Ralph Uttke, Langlade County's district attorney.

Jorgensen was jailed in January '08 for contempt of court after failing to pay his ex-wife after their divorce.

Soon police say he began to have incriminating conversations with his jail mate Ryan Becker.

"This is someone that the defendant met in the jail, he knew this guy had a reputation," said Uttke.

Jorgensen and his jail mate had perhaps dozens of conversations in jail, but the most incriminating evidence was the taped discussions the two had while on work release....of how to kill Kelly Jorgensen.

Langlade County Sheriff Bill Greening says Becker told his counselor about the conversations, which subsequently led to police finding out....and then Becker wearing the body wire.

On the stand, Becker said he and Jorgensen talked about methods of killing Kelly, plans to hide out for awhile, and money.

"There were discussions during the conversations between Becker and Jorgensen of a wood chiper and chainsaw," said Sheriff Greening.

The two day trial ended with the jury's verdict....Jorgensen is guilty of conspiring to first degree intentional homicide.

He will be sentenced on Nov. 25th. There's no word yet of an appeal.
