ANTIGO, Wis. (AP) -- A bridge replacement project that hit a snag at the halfway point -- after the existing bridge over the Wolf River was gone -- could soon be back on track.
Demolition of the bridge along Langlade County Highway A over the summer cut off the main access to Antigo, forcing large trucks, school buses and other vehicles to travel rural roads never designed for such heavy use.
The new bridge was scheduled to be done September 15th, but that was before the project ran into trouble with rocks in an area where critical footings had to be built.
Engineers and bridge contractors joined county and state agency personnel at the bridge site this week to look for a solution.
They've decided to make the new span 14 feet longer, avoiding the rocks, and hopefully get the bridge done in less than two month
