Agriculture a Staple of Central Wisconsin State Fair
The Central Wisconsin State Fair is in full swing, and while the games, food, and rides are a big part of it, officials say the agricultural side of it is just as important.

The Central Wisconsin State Fair is still in full swing, as fair officials say almost 100,000 people have made their way to the Marshfield Fair Grounds.
And between the thrill rides, delicious treats, and exciting games there's no question why.
But fair organizers say that since the fair got started, the foundation has been the agricultural side of it.
Carol Kerper, General Manager of the fair says, "Agriculture has been a part of our fair since the inception of our fair, and we're in our 105th year of the fair already, and we'd like to keep agriculture as the basis."
And as the basis of the fair, it's stronger than ever, with more than six hundred entries to the dairy category alone this year, which meant they had to find additional housing for all the animals.
But while the different contests and judging are the main reason for all of the cows, horses, and llamas, they're also a fun attraction for fairgoers.
Kerper says, "I really like to walk through the barns and talk to the junior fair entries about their animals, that's very interesting and they're always so willing to share how they worked on their projects."
And for the hundreds of people who brought animals to show here at the fair, today also marks the culmination of all their hard work.
Katelynne Heine, who is showing cattle at the fair this year says, "The work, it just pays off, it feels so good inside when you get toward the top of the class, and knowing that you worked for it, it's better."
And for Katelynne, all of her hard work paid off when her cow won its' class, as well as best udder.
And the joy and happiness that success brings is enough to keep organizers bringing the fair back year after year.
Kerper adds, "I see the hard work they put into their projects, that's what keeps me doing this."
The fair runs through Monday, when they'll be having their N.T.P.A. tractor pull, starting at 9:00am.
