Isolated strong thunderstorms are possible for the rest of the daylight hours and this evening as a very strong low pressure system continues to move through Wisconsin. Keep it tuned to WSAW.com, NewsChannel 7 and our 24/7 Channel for more updates.
Since March 18, Newschannel 7 has been collecting items to go to the 998th Quartermaster Company. Before it deployed, the National Guard unit was based in Junction City. The unit's Family Readiness Group Leader picked up eight boxes of donations Friday.
"You can only pack so much in a duffle bag," says Sue Sternberg, after loading the boxes into the back of her station wagon. "You're only allowed so much, so getting this stuff in will be great for the troops' morale."
For security reasons, Sternberg could not say where the 998th is headed or if it has reached its destination yet. She does say, however that family members say the journey is going well so far.
Newschannel 7 is a designated Red Cross drop off site, and will continue receiving "quality of life" items for U.S. troops. A complete list of what items are needed can be found at www.wsaw.com
