The case of the Plover man accused of possessing firearms and explosives will now be handled by the United States Attorney's Office.
The Portage County District Attorney's Office tells NewsChannel 7 that because Glen Steger was a felon possessing a firearm, the charges fit better in federal court. The federal charges are based on the same set of facts as the charges in Portage County. Steger will be moved from the Portage County Jail to a federal holding unit.
Steger, 58, is facing a maximum of 10 years in federal prison. He was arrested in June at his home on a warrant for sexually assaulting a child. When police entered the home, they found several items, including 11 firearms, thousands of rounds of ammunition and explosives.
Steger also faces a repeated sexaul assault of the same child charge in Green Lake County.
