MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Students entering college this fall have lived their whole lives in a digital world. It's a world where GPS has always been available, phones have always had caller ID and tax returns could always be filed online.
The incoming freshmen were born mostly in 1990 and grew up knowing only Jay Leno as host of "The Tonight Show."
Those are some of the 60 cultural landmarks on the latest Beloit College Mindset List, released today.
The annual compilation is meant to show the world through the eyes of the incoming class, reminding professors that some references they want to use may be beyond the comprehension of their students.
Beloit freshman Dana Wierzbicki from Niles, Illinois, says her favorite item on the list is the first. It states that "Harry Potter could be a classmate, playing on their Quidditch team."
She says she's a huge Harry Potter fan and wishes that one could be true.
