A Marathon County Dispatcher is facing possible disciplinary action for sending firefighters to the wrong address earlier this month.
On March 9, a chimney fire in the Town of Bevent was called in.
The dispatcher checked the computer for the address listed for the phone number. But the address was wrong, and nearly 30 minutes passed before firefighters were dispatched to the correct address.
The computer had the wrong address, but the dispatcher didn't follow protocol by double-checking the address with the man on the phone.
Capt. Dave Mason says they can change incorrect addresses for most phone numbers, but this address was entered into the computer by the phone company.
