The school held a special assembly Friday to honor America's troops. It's a half a world away from Iraq, but Rudolph students in every grade stood up in their red, white and blue with messages for troops abroad and here in Wisconsin.

The kids showed off eight banners their classes designed that are headed down to the 998th in Fort McCoy. Along with the banners, they're sending letters and mementos.

Two military speakers told the kids about the responsibilities of being a soldier. One of them, Retired Staff Sergeant Sue Sternberg was impressed by how much work went into the presentation.
