Wausau Police Unveils Rollover Simulator

The Wausau Police Department is hoping their new simulator will reinforce the importance of buckling up.
In collaboration with the American Automobile Association, the Wausau Police unveiled their new rollover simulator Friday morning.
The device comes with two inflatable dummies, and will be used to show observers what actually happens to an unbuckled occupant in a vehicle rollover.
They say they intend to rent out the simulator for as many events as possible, to make sure the public is aware of its' message.
Lieutenant Dennis Saager with the Wausau Police Department says, "The whole intent is to present this rollover simulator at fairs, community events, as well as other social gatherings, to actually further our message in the use of seatbelts."
Saager says for every one percent increase in the state's seatbelt compliance rate, six to eight lives can be saved, and they hope their new simulator will help them work toward that.
