GREEN BAY, WI -- Nearly 9,500 shareholders were on hand for the Packers' annual meeting. The topic on everyone's mind...Brett Favre and what happens next.

"It's a very sensitive situation that will have long term ramifications for this orginization," President/CEO Mark Murphy told the crowd. "We are all in unison and very supportive of the way Ted and Mike have handled this delicate situation."

That response was met with a round of cheers and jeers.

General Manager Ted Thompson received a standing ovation from the majority, then tip-toed around the Favre topic.

"We are family here, but family sometime disagree," Thompson said. "But we'll always be family."

Head coach Mike McCarthy received the loudest cheers, but didn't touch the subject of Favre.

Then the fans had their chance to be heard. "Bring back Brett, bring back Brett," the chant echoed throughout the Lambeau Field Atrium.

In the Lambeau Atrium, President Mark Murphy signed autographs while talking and listening to the shareholders.

"Mark please try and do the right thing with the situation," one fan said. "Oh absolutely, Murphy replied. "For the best of the whole orginization and the man who has given us so much for 16 years," she said. Murphy answered, "oh, yeah, it's a delicate situation."

Thompson was to be in the Atrium as well. Instead stayed away until nearly 1:00, and that was on the 4th floor, where the crowd was smaller, but still vocal.

"We support you 100%," a fan told Thompson. "Thank you, I support you too," said Thompson. Another fan with a shirt that said 'Bring Back Brett Favre' said, "we want you to know that we support you sir, but we'd like you to bring our quarterback back." Thompson replied, "I appreciate it but I better not get involved in politics."

Most of the fans probably didn't get the answer they wanted regarding the Brett Favre situation. But most expressed they have confidence in management to do what's right for the team.

"I left my Favre jersey at home because i'm sick and tired of the soap opera," said Mark Weisensel of Oshkosh.

Mosinee's Jason Weiland said, "I think overall most people are probably satisfied with how he's running the team. The last 3 years, they've improved, so you can't argue that fact.

Thank you for doing your best for the team. I know you're doing it for us," a fan told Thompson. "Thank you," said the G.M.

Murphy did tell the media his hope is to preserve the long-term relationship with Favre, and that they're trying to do the right thing.
