The man police say was driving a car in which an Almond man accidentally shot himself is now charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Assistant Portage County District Attorney David Knaapen tells NewsChannel 7 that 26-year old Adrian Facundo of Almond was in court Tuesday.
He was also cited for drunk driving in the incident.
Stevens Point Police say they stopped a car on suspicion of drunk driving on July 5. Inside they found 27-year-old Travis Mills, a passenger, was unresponsive. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.
Forensic tests showed Mills died of an accidental, self inflicted gunshot wound.
Facundo and another passenger were taken into custody on unrelated charges.
Knaapen says he expects there will be no other charges filed in the death of Mills.
