Clark County authorities say they're investigating the death of a woman in rural Granton. They were called to Hill Road in the Town of Lynn with the report of a shooting after 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The Sheriff's Department tells NewsChannel 7 that call came from inside the victim's home. However, they say they are not releasing whether the woman died of a gunshot wound, or if anyone else was invovled.

They do say that no one was taken into custody as a suspect in the shooting, and that there is no suspect being sought. They say the public has no reason to fear for their safety.

The Sheriff's Department also tells NewsChannel 7 that despite rumors in the community that this was the case of a murder-suicide, the woman is the only victim.

Neighbors tell NewsChannel 7 the woman lived alone and was not married, but had a boyfriend.

The victim's sister tells NewsChannel 7 her sister loved being around others, and didn't have an enemy in the world. She didn't want to comment on what happened while the investigation is ongoing.
