Shifting Support for War with Iraq

Last month just over half of Wisconsites polled said the Bush administration had done what it could to avert war with Iraq and now that number is nearing 60 percent.

It seems there is growing support for war and a growing belief that the Bush administration has exhausted all other options.

History Professor, Neil Lewis of UW-Stevens Point says he expected to see more acceptance and more criticism of those speaking out against the war. Yet, Lewis says, the war will be hard to predict and if Saddam Hussein feels he's getting beat, it's likely he'll use any force he can, including any weapons of mass destruction.

A new Security Council vote authorizing war with Iraq could come on Monday. The President is spending the weekend in a summit with allies off the coast of Portugal.
