Puppies and kittens are being born all across Northcentral Wisconsin right now and because many of them are ending up in humane societies, some non-profit shelters are asking for your help.

The Humane Society of Marathon County says they are currently in need of puppy and kitty food.

“We rely pretty heavily on the public for donations as far as the food and everything,” Heather Marincel, Marathon County’s humane officer, said.

She says the shelter could also use puppy, dog and cat shampoo, paper towels and old rugs and blankets for the furry friends they are housing.

You can also help out all of the animals by participating in the Paws to Recycle program.

When you drop off your aluminum cans in plastic bags at the shelter, they use the money collected from the recycled cans to purchase medication for animals, as well as spaying and neutering.
