OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) _ The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh estimates damage of $5.5 million from flooding that hit campus buildings last month.

Most heavily damaged was the River Center. It had some eight feet of water in the building and 12 feet in the loading dock area after rainstorms that include a deluge of more than five inches June 12th.

Vice Chancellor tom Sonnleitner says that despite all the damage, all the buildings except the River Center are expected to be in operation when the new semester starts in September.

The River Center is being evaluated to determine what repairs will cost and whether it will be worth it.

Sonnleitner says the campus is insured through the state, and officials hope to get federal aid to help prevent similar damage in the future.
